I found out yesterday that my friend continues to battle with some physical problems and my sister will not be able to run with me. Since the half and full marathon are next month, I planned a long distant run with either my sister or my friend. Well, I went on a long distant run by myself. The temperature this morning was a cool 33 degrees. I had to go back inside the house and change my running outfit. I am glad I did. It worked out well and I enjoyed the run.
I have not said much about the marathons. Personally, I am bit nervous running two marathons within two weeks from each other. I plans to run the half at a comfortable pace. In other words, I am not pursuing personal best. Then I will taper down two weeks before the full marathon. Should I do strength training and speed work during the first week or something else? The second week I plan to do minimal training and last two days before the marathon I anticipate to take those days off. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Life is slowly getting back to normal. There was a lot of activity leading up to the celebration of our Savior’s birth. From last minute shopping to getting ready to be with family and friends. Overall it was a good day. Reading the Christmas story out of the Bible started our celebration. From there we pondered upon the blessings of God. We were all very thankful and appreciative what He has done in our lives.
The opening of gifts was well received. Our families watched each person open their gift. Mixed with family traditions, it took a total of nine hours to open all our gifts. Of course we had food breaks which is par for the course. I can not say I did well in the area of food consumption. However, compared to last year I did better. Overall, we laughed, ate, and enjoyed the kind words expressed by everyone.

Yesterday I went shopping for myself. Rarely do I ever get to do this. Usually, my paycheck is either spent before I get it or it goes to my family. Since I received a bonus this year I decided to look for compression pants and shirt. I did my research so I knew exactly where to go. In the end I spent a totally of less than fifty dollars for both items. What a deal!
This morning I tried the outfit and it felt very comfortable. It did its job and I am very happy with the purchase.
Today was a very nice day. This morning at church we heard special music from our womens and kids choir. It was very inspiring. In the afternoon I did some Christmas shopping with my daughter. We had a great time and ended at Starbucks as a finishing touch. Right now my wife and I are hosting a small christmas party. Kids and some adults are watching Elf and the rest are in the living room chatting. I am just taking a short break from hosting. OK, that is long enough. Got to go.
